About Me

Cinematographer. Filmmaker. Storyteller.
Born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. Niklas Berggren grew up in a small town called Åkersberga, and he is the grandson of the Romanian theater actor Petre Vasilescu.

He began his journey to become a filmmaker at the age of 17, when he moved from Sweden to Hertford, England, to attend Hertford Regional College and study in the Interactive Media Program. He graduated in June 2011, and continued to study at Southampton Solent University in the BA Film and Television Studies program.

In 2014, Niklas decided to pursue his dreams of working in the film industry, and enrolled at New York Film Academy in Burbank, CA, BFA Filmmaking program. During his studies at NYFA, he met and learned from several well known industry professionals such as Gareth Dunnet, Leander Sales, Joe Burke, Sean Kohnen, Bruce McWilliams, Carl Bartels, and many more.

While studying at NYFA, he got to work in several different departments. He’s worked in Sound, Grip & Electric, DIT, Editing, and Camera. He has even written, produced, and directed his own short films. But it was camera department that he enjoyed the most, and decided to pursue his career in the film industry as a Cinematographer.
